DIY Eyeshadow Primer

Hey guys,

Today we'll be sharing a cheap and easy way to make your own eyeshadow primer at home.:)

So what exactly is an eyeshadow primer for?

1. To prevent your eyeshadow from creasing.
2. To make your eyeshadow and eyeliner last longer.
3. To make the color of your eyeshadow look more vibrant.

Despite its wonderful efficiency, the eyeshadow primer is often excluded from most girl's makeup boxes, simply because they're often overpriced for such small bottles of product. That's why we decided to bring you this tutorial, hope you girls will find it helpful!

You will need:

A mosturizer of your choice, a liquid foundation of your choice and an empty container.

Here, I'm using Dewin's Aqua Intensive Gel Cream and Chanel's Pro Lumiere foundation (a sample. Haha. This primer is also a great way to use up all the sample foundations/moisturizers you have lying around).

First, pour 1 1/2 teaspoons of the liquid foundation into your container.

Secondly, add the same amount (1 1/2 teaspoons) of your moisturizer into the container.

Note: 1 1/2 teaspooons is just an example of an amount. It depends on how much primer you want to make, as long as both are in equal parts.:)

Finally, mix it all up.

And there you have it! Your very own eyeshadow primer!

And this is the end product!

I like primers with a lighter, more watery texture because I have oily lids but if you need something thicker feel free to use ingredients with thicker consistencies. The texture of your primer simply follows the texture of your foundation and moisturizer.:)

Now to show you the effectiveness of your homemade primer.:)

The eyeshadow used below is Elianto's Baked in Turqoise Blue. Only RM 5 and the colors don't show up very well without a primer.:(

Left: without primer, Right: with primer

Isn't the difference amazing??

Hope you find this tutorial useful.:) Do check back for more DIY and makeup tutorials!

The Evolution of the Maxi

It is common knowledge to all fashionistas that the maxi dress never goes out of style. This is because this amazing wardrobe staple has the ability to slim you down while, at the same time, elongate your body!

The trend does, however, evolve with the times. This season, the tribal printed floral maxis have taken a backseat to plain singlet maxis! This look is fast becoming a favorite for many fashionable celebrities.

Check out Taylor Momsen of Gossip Girl rocking the boho chic look in her tie-dye singlet maxi!

Reasons to love this look?

1. It's super comfortable! The jersey cotton is soft on the skin and you no longer have to worry about strapless bras!

2. It accentuates all your womanly curves while hiding any unsightly buldges!

3. It's the easiest way to create an MK & Ashley boho chic look without looking frumpy!

As usual, the blogshop community has picked up this trend and provided us with lovely, affordable alternatives to high street fashion. Check out these lovely dresses at such reasonable prices!

Skin Food Acai Berry Facial Mask Review

Hey guys!

I'm so excited to be doing our very first product review! Today, we'll be kicking off with a review on Skin Food's Acai Berry Face Mask from their new Global Special range.

This new range is basically a collection of masks, each made of special ingredients from different parts of the world. The Acai Berry, known as the Brazilian superfood, is world famous for its antioxidant properties. This is fabulous for the skin as it promotes healing and skin cell regeneration.:)

Weight: 100g

Price: RM 63.90

Where to get it:
Any Skin Food outlet (1 Utama, Midvalley, Sunway Pyramid, etc.)

Packaging:
I adore the packaging for this skin food mask.:) It comes in an adorable glass jar with a plastic screw on cap with an accompanying spoon.

Everything is nice, simple, easy to use and easy to store.

Texture:
The mask is of a jelly-like texture with tiny microbeads.

Scent:
I like the smell of this. A very light fruity scent, nothing to artificial or overpowering.

Instructions:
1. Massage ample amount onto damp face.
2. Leave for 5 minutes.
3. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Promises:
Skin Food's website as well as their store promoter both claim that the main aim of this mask is to provide intense hydration to dry skin. It is supposed to make your skin feel smoother and softer. Also, it is meant to combat premature aging with its hydrating and antioxidant properties.

Comments:
Although this is supposed to be a mask, it actually works better as a scrub. The tiny microbeads work really well in exfoliating the skin and removing blackheads. Your skin really does feel smoother and less congested after use!

Aside from that, the acai berries antioxidant properties can evidently be seen. After use, your face looks brighter and your skin feels noticeably tighter. This mask (or should I say scrub? =S) significantly reduces the appearance of large pores.
However, I've used it several times and still do not see much effectiveness in terms of hydration. My skin does not feel soft and moisturized. I've even tried leaving it on for longer periods of time but that actually makes my skin feel dryer!

So if you have dry skin and are looking for a nutritious hydrating mask, I'd advice you against this. Either that or you can use this as an exfoliator (works really well in that sense!) and follow up with a rich mask or lots of moisturizer!

Overall Rating: 3/5

It really doesn't do what it's meant to but I had to bump it up for being an awesome scrub.:)

Hope this has been helpful, guys.:) If you have tried this mask or any other masks in the range feel free to leave a comment below! Or if you have any questions don't hesitate to comment we'd love to help.:)

Shimmery Summer Look

Want to achieve the gorgeous Eva Longoria beach look this summer? It's not hard to get this easy and fresh look. Put on a sundress and a pair of flip flops and get ready to hit the beach :)

1. First, start by applying a tanner on your face. Apply just enough to stay natural. We would recommend the Talk to the Tan by Benefit. This face lotion promises a long-wearing glow with colour that wont streak and would stay in place until u wash it off.

2. Next slightly apply bronzer as a blush on your cheekbones to give a more golden glow to your cheeks. Don’t forget to dust across forehead, chin and tip of nose to even it. For this we would recommend Benefit’s Hoola Bronzing Powder.

3. For the eyes use shimmery vanilla eyeshadow all over your eye or gold eyeshadow for bronze skin. MAC Vanilla Pigment would go well with this look. Then, line your eye with a very thin line of brown or black liner. Use waterproof eye make up to make sure it last you throughout the hot day! Finish your eye make up with a light coat of waterproof mascara.

4..Go for a water base lip gloss, best in natural shimmery colours.

Now you can enjoy the beautiful weather :D
