Skin Food Acai Berry Facial Mask Review

Hey guys!

I'm so excited to be doing our very first product review! Today, we'll be kicking off with a review on Skin Food's Acai Berry Face Mask from their new Global Special range.

This new range is basically a collection of masks, each made of special ingredients from different parts of the world. The Acai Berry, known as the Brazilian superfood, is world famous for its antioxidant properties. This is fabulous for the skin as it promotes healing and skin cell regeneration.:)

Weight: 100g

Price: RM 63.90

Where to get it:
Any Skin Food outlet (1 Utama, Midvalley, Sunway Pyramid, etc.)

Packaging:
I adore the packaging for this skin food mask.:) It comes in an adorable glass jar with a plastic screw on cap with an accompanying spoon.

Everything is nice, simple, easy to use and easy to store.

Texture:
The mask is of a jelly-like texture with tiny microbeads.

Scent:
I like the smell of this. A very light fruity scent, nothing to artificial or overpowering.

Instructions:
1. Massage ample amount onto damp face.
2. Leave for 5 minutes.
3. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Promises:
Skin Food's website as well as their store promoter both claim that the main aim of this mask is to provide intense hydration to dry skin. It is supposed to make your skin feel smoother and softer. Also, it is meant to combat premature aging with its hydrating and antioxidant properties.

Comments:
Although this is supposed to be a mask, it actually works better as a scrub. The tiny microbeads work really well in exfoliating the skin and removing blackheads. Your skin really does feel smoother and less congested after use!

Aside from that, the acai berries antioxidant properties can evidently be seen. After use, your face looks brighter and your skin feels noticeably tighter. This mask (or should I say scrub? =S) significantly reduces the appearance of large pores.
However, I've used it several times and still do not see much effectiveness in terms of hydration. My skin does not feel soft and moisturized. I've even tried leaving it on for longer periods of time but that actually makes my skin feel dryer!

So if you have dry skin and are looking for a nutritious hydrating mask, I'd advice you against this. Either that or you can use this as an exfoliator (works really well in that sense!) and follow up with a rich mask or lots of moisturizer!

Overall Rating: 3/5

It really doesn't do what it's meant to but I had to bump it up for being an awesome scrub.:)

Hope this has been helpful, guys.:) If you have tried this mask or any other masks in the range feel free to leave a comment below! Or if you have any questions don't hesitate to comment we'd love to help.:)

Xoxo,

Blue Margarita
